Konoha is a mess as Pain continues to attack the village. In the rubble-filled streets, Iruka tends to helpan injured ninja but he suddenly finds one of Pain’s bodies standing behind him. Pain demands information on the nine-tailed beast, but Iruka refuses to reveal anything. Pain proceeds to attack Iruka but the attack is blocked by Kakashi, who has just arrived on the scene. After Iruka takes that injured ninja and leaves, Kakashi starts battling Pain but finds that his techniques don’t work very well against Pain’s Rinnengan.

Meanwhile, Naruto is getting close to finishing his training with Fukasaku. During dinner, Fukasaku explains to Naruto the risks of using the sage techniques. It turns out it’s very risky to use sage techniques when alone because one much keep still in order to collect natural energy, so once the energy runs out then one must stay still to collect more energy. In order to overcome this, Fukasaku explains that he will fuse with Naruto during sage mode so one of them can be collecting energy while the other fights. After hearing the Jiraiya used to fight the same way, Naruto agrees to the arrangement and gives Fukasku a high-five

Back in Konoha, the autopsy and interrogation teams are making some progress on the body that Jiraiya brought back. Meanwhile, Tsunade, Shikamaru and the code breakers, and the other ninjas of Konoha finally notice what’s happening in the streets. After thinking things over, Tsunade decides to put on an emergency warning and to call Naruto back to the village.
